I have always been passionate about the wilderness, exploring, preserving and now sharing with my grandchildren. There is no better way for me to meditate than to be on my knees with my hands in the earth, gardening. As list owner of Freecycle Calgary, I asked our 9400 members to submit any nonprofit organizations that would be of interest to other members for our Links section. Landshare Canada was submitted today. After taking a peek at your site, I immediately added it to the Links section and here I am joining because I feel I would be most comfortable here. I cannot offer Land, alas, but am willing to help any growers with planting or weeding. Thank you.

I am a relative newbie to gardening. This is my third year trying to grow. I live in a condo complex so have minimal space and a big, shade-casting tree making it tough to grow things well. I'm looking for more space to cultivate crops like kale, chard, collards, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, carrots and beets.

I am originally from Québec (Montreal and Quebec City) and moved to Calgary in September 2010. I am an advocate of sustainable transportation (especially cycling), local food systems and complete communities. At the end of May I will be a certified Permaculture Designer; permaculture is a design system for sustainable human habitat that encompasses energy, food and social systems. I have done woofing (volunteer work on organic farms) in Italy for 8-10 months in total, focusing mostly on animals, beekeeping and cheese making. Skills/knowledge I could share: basic bicycle maintenance/repair, French, Italian, permaculture, travelling advice, film photography

I have lived in Canada the last 15yrs but this year is my year to return to the UK and settle in Cornwall. Im a clothes designer with a very large conscience... I havent given up the idea of some form of sustainable production but my attention is growing more towards our other basic need 'food' and all things whole local and sustainable my passion is absorbing great quantities of information on the challenges movements globally to this end. I have been volunteering in local programs this last year and had some experience of growing not so successfully but loved every minute, taking great pride with a cheek splitting smile on my face harvesting a handful of long beans from my very shade challenged city garden , carefully steaming them with butter and then even more reverently eating them in small bits. I can completely identify with the feeling of growing and how it can have the huge potential to reconnect people to the earth.making some contacts with communities and hopefully getting an idea of a garden or small holding preferably I can contribute to with physical labour and marginal experience hopefully more by then as i intend to gain more experience this next summer I will be living in the Falmouth area.So if any groups need extra help I would love to join them! I have a strong marketing background ..too and entreprenuerial spirit could be useful.!

I have been gardening for as long as I can remember. My parents always had a backyard garden, and I made sure I had some space set aside for a garden in my own backyard. More recently, I have become much more interested in ideas like permaculture, forest gardens, edible landscapes and native and medicinal plants. Eventually, I would like to be able to grow flax and make linen, as well as growing plants for natural dyes :o) I have a degree in conservation science and work for an environmental non-profit. I spend alot of time reading about and working with sustainability issues, so I'd like to help others who are interested in learning about these things, share what I know, and learn from others here.

Je suis une jeune femme de 23 ans, qui se passionne pour l'horticulture comestible. J'ai travaillé plus de 10 ans dans l'aménagement de jardin (non-comestible). L'an passé, j'ai cultivé mon propre jardin. Il était 1/2 acre de grandeur et il y avait plus de 20 variétés de légumes, sans compter les fines herbes et les fleurs sauvages. Ma première expérience seule et 100% comestible! :) J'aspire à créer une coop de travail, où il y aurait beaucoup plus que la production horticole. Une philosophie de vie m'anime énormément.
