We have 7 acres of woods plus 3 acres that were previously farmer's fields. We don't have a farm nor do we have a garden. We're somewhere in between - a farmden. Over the past 5 years we have been transforming the 3 acres of former fields into raised vegetable and berry beds and an orchard. We have been reforesting parts of the field with native nut & fruit trees as well as native deciduous and coniferous trees. In addition to apples, pears, and plums, we grow pawpaw, persimmon, medlar, quince, goumi, mulberry, shipova, haskap and sea buckthorn. We also grow nut trees - hazel, heartnut, northern pecan, black walnut. We have stooling beds where we propagate our own rootstock, nut trees, and fruit trees. While we are not certified organic, we use no chemicals, neither pesticides, herbicides, nor fertilizers. Although we are not permaculturalists, we follow some of permaculture principles. We are more oriented towards the less invasive approaches of Masanobu Fukuoka and Emilia Hazelip. We are treatment-free Tanzanian topbar beekeepers.

If you want to grow fruits & nuts holistically, we'll help you on our property

I'm a mid thirties, green thumbed, inner city apartment dweller who grew up gardening in the suburbs of Calgary. I'm also a landscape architect by profession, so I have cultivated excellent plant mojo. I'm looking to connect with individuals interested in sharing a garden plot for personal use in exchange for my skills, knowledge and hard work. I'd be willing to share a portion of the harvest and would select crops that the landowner would like to have. Inner city preferred.

I've just moved to Montreal after being away for a few years and would like to get involved with the food movement in the city. I would also like to access to a small plot nearby to grow some of my own food. I'm happy to do this collaboratively with other people as well! I've also done oyster mushroom growing with coffee grounds waste and would like to get involved with anyone doing it in Montreal currently or wants to start something up.

Passionate about healthy food and making sure children grow up knowing where their food comes from, I am excited to share my enthusiasm, garden sensibilities and give the same opportunities to other families and individuals. I am creating garden allotments available in 2013 on my property just south of Calgary.

Garden Allotments

I have 8 plots available in late spring 2013. Each plot is 4 X 10 for growing of produce or flowers. Must be pesticide free. Rain barrel and compost will be available. Located just 5 km south of City of Calgary city limits. Directly across from Heritage Pointe Golf Course.

I'm looking for a local spot to grow veggies and green up this city. I am also interested in guerrilla gardening with anyone else who's interested. There seems to be some spots along the tracks that I've heard are good, but I'm new here and need to explore some more.
