Domestic Property Couple Sunderland, ON Canada Domestic Property Couple needed as primary staff for private seasonal residence located in Sunderland, ON (Port Perry – Uxbridge area of Ontario). A year round and full-time, live-in position with private accommodations provided on property. Position Overview: The couple will be responsible to participate with the general care and maintenance of the property for interior and exterior care including care of Buffalo on property. To manage the day to day activities of the residence and property; hands on housekeeping, laundry, care for the interior and exterior of the residence and property in order to maintain standards and efficiency. Must be flexible with work schedules; a primarily a seasonal summer property applicants must be experienced with handy man skills and garden care. Primary Responsibilities: Full participation with all day-to-day elements of the residence & property. Housekeeping, laundry and general organization to maintain residence ready for family arrival. Maintenance of interior & exterior elements, light handy man work. Landscaping for property, care of vegetable garden, grass cutting – equipment provided on site. Running of errands and marketing. Organize and manage household inventories, closets and storage areas. Planning and assisting with occasional entertaining for seasonal family & social events. Prepare property for seasonal visits by family, busy summer and occasional winter stays. Participate with care of Buffalo on property. Seasonal maple syrup tapping, to participate with tree taps, bottling and storage each season. Care of ponds on property with small beach area. Care of patios and furnishings. Vehicle management for family cars, cleaning and gas. Seasonal snow removal. Applicant Qualities: Previous experience working in a rural style private property will be considered a strong asset. Applicants must be service oriented and self-starters. Previous experience with light machinery, carpentry and landscaping will be considered a strong asset. Strong housekeeping and laundry skills to maintain interior and care of finishes & furnishings. Applicants should be energetic with a strong work ethic and a proven ability to work as a team. Applicants should have strong communication skills and ability to anticipate needs of the principals. Must exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times. Hi! We are an environmentally conscious couple seeking out an opportunity for serious change in our lives. To put it simply, we would love the chance to ‘own’ our own little slice of land. The past three years we have been building skills more suited to simple, self-sufficient living and also have a great deal of education both within and beyond the mainstream curriculum. During the last year we have been here on the coast attempting to live a more balanced life. We hope to establish a greater independence, in a conscious community, from the current corporate reliance many find themselves born into. After settling in this past year we’ve realized the coast & Gulf Islands are a few of the places we would like to establish a home. Essentially all that is needed is garden space for two, a community welcoming of our two cats and dogs, and potential for a small living space if over time everything goes well. We’re extremely committed to making this change in our lives and are open to almost anything. In order to obtain a small share of land for ourselves, we’d be willing to pay justified portions of rent, various on going work trades, and when required, we also have a small truck we would use for community purposes. I am looking for a place where I can live ( rent a house and barn) with some acreage to grow vegetables and herbs and keep a couple of horses. I want to grow organically using compost and manure from the horses, and keep chickens to sell eggs. I have a CSA farm that is willing to be my farm partner for information, help with seed suppliers and moral support. I am not a novice at country life and have decided to take the steps to start doing something I have always believed to be important. Nothing is more important than food.

I want to offer anywhere between 1 and 3 acres of land. In return help with my own small garden/or small amount of produce. The land is untouched forest so I imagine very good soil, although it is quite rocky to.

We hope to connect the eaters of food to their food and have everyone participate in the growing process. There are gardens, fruit trees, prairie landscapes, really free range chickens, two cows and their calves, and a few goats. We are welcoming those who want to connect, to come here and see what they can create with their owns hands. We love to host Wwoofers, Children's groups, and Community organizations with a taste for Social Justice and Environmental Stewardship. There will always be time for music here.....fiddles, guitars, pianos, harmonicas, recorders and singing around the campfire. Live music, people harmonies and great food are what makes life worth living!

Looking for an organic plot of land that I can grow vegetables and herbs on for the 2013 Season and so on. Would like to grow corn, tomatoes, peppers, squash, carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, spinach, basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, parsley, lavender, citronella..maybe 6 - 10 plants of each. I am looking to keep half and give the other half to charity. It's just for me and my son, so not looking for something huge..but enough space to plant the above and maybe a few others. Will need a watersource close by too, please. We are willing to share the food and space too, if need be. We have looked at alot of community gardens, and the waiting lists are very long, because there are not enough. Thank you!!

We have 40 acres of traditionally farmed cropland that we would like to convert to organic. We are looking for a partner with some experience with grain crops who would like to take over the transition of the fields or work with us to plan a crop rotation to get us to full organic status. We have a tractor and a draft horse and are willing to invest in the necessary equipment to work the land most effectively. The transition crops would be used on the farm as animal feed or for self-consumption or for sale in local restaurants. To have or be involved with horses and equine-assisted personal development programs for humans? Greenshire Eco Farms, established in 2009, is a Permaculture farm. Permaculture goes beyond organic, leaving the land improved from its original state. The farm is located on a busy local and ‘cottage-country’ route in the Kawartha Lakes northeast of Toronto and 30 minutes northwest of Peterborough, between Lindsay and Bobcaygeon. The previous owner lived on the property for 30 years and used no chemicals. Therefore, the land could be certified organic. We have in the ground, in various types of garden beds such as mandala, food forest, and hugelkultur: * 35 fruit trees (5 sweet cherry, 1 sour cherry, 11 apple, 6 pear, 5 peach, 5 nectarine, 2 persimmon) * 66 nut trees (hazelnut, almond, japanese walnut aka heartnut, sweet chestnut, pecan, korean pine nut) * 1500 asparagus crowns * ever-bearing strawberry plants * various seasonal vegetables and garlic Greenshire is a commercial farm and educational centre, open to the public for workshops and agri-entertainment: Permaculture garden tours and natural horsemanship/equine-assisted learning demonstrations and sessions. Greenshire’s horses live in a naturalized boarding environment called a Paddock Paradise – one of only a few in Ontario. Two certified facilitators run workshops and sessions in Facilitated Equine Experiential Learning (FEEL) with our rescue horses, helping our human clients to learn valuable life skills and new ways to be in relationship, while healing the horses, who often have histories of abuse and/or neglect, at the same time. The Greenshire partners are looking for a partner-investor (or multiple persons) to purchase our 100-acre farm, with option to live on the property. We also seek a business-savvy person or persons to manage or co-manage the gardens and/or administer the agri-tourism business. The main house is ~1100 square feet, recently renovated, heated by oil, with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. A second residence (720 sq ft) on the farm requires a foundation and septic system (permits already issued and paid for). Also, there is potential for a 3rd seasonal-living residence for farm workers in a building (736 sq ft) that is already on-site. There is a multitude of options for other ecological businesses on the property (including building of cottages for eco-tourism), which is approximately 30 acres young forest, 65 hay/meadow and 5 in market gardens and residential area.
